2023 was a BUSY year for Carolina Beach Music’s Deb Browning:
Deb started the year out in the recording studio on January 2nd working on her seventh original song, “Think I Found Forever,” with Tim Sidden Productions.
On January 19th, Deb began filming the Music Video for “Think I Found Forever” with Tony Murnahan and Stwrongtone Media. A special thank you to Ray & Gayle Collins of Soirée By The Sea for the beautiful set and production designs.
On January 29th, Deb finished filming the Movie Theater scenes for her Music Video at the home of Larry Fox and LeighAnne Reynolds. Thank you to all who helped make this Music Video so successful!
On Valentine’s Day, Deb was honored to participate in Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot’s special Valentine’s Show at The Asher Theater in Myrtle Beach. Russell Henry, one of the original Drifters, was also featured in the show. Thank you, Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot, for this special opportunity.
February 23rd brought the Mickey’s Place YouTube Premiere for Marlisa Kay Small, Deb’s singing partner. Deb and Marlisa traveled to Tennessee in October of 2022 to film the YouTube show, and Deb was privileged to sing background vocals on one of Marlisa’s songs. The elegant Denim & Diamonds Premiere also helped raise money for Bold and Beautiful Wigs for Cancer, Deb’s favorite charity.
March 9th was one of Deb’s best-loved days of 2023. Ray and Gayle Collins of Soirée by the Sea transformed the back room of Fat Harold’s into a Movie Theater setting for the premiere of Deb’s “Think I Found Forever” Music Video. Hosted by Eric Bowman and Ray Scott, the night was a huge success. In addition to Soirée by the Sea, a special thank you to Eric and Ray for hosting, to Melissa Hinson Photography for these wonderful photos (and several more throughout this news post,) and to Tammie Mullis of “Seasoned Catering by Tammie” for the delightful and creative food! And to Lulu Quick-Rigsbee and the staff of Fat Harold’s…YOU ROCK!
“Think I Found Forever” Music Video went on to win several awards in 2023, including Best Music Video in two Film Festivals and Best Director in another. Thank you, Tony Murnahan & Amy Karpinski of STWRONGTONE MEDIA!
April brought the SOS Parade, and Deb was blessed to have over 20 of her friends participate with her in the parade. Of course, the theme was “Think I Found Forever,” and the decorations and costumes were amazing – THANK YOU all so much!
On April 24th, Deb released a lyric video for “Think I Found Forever” and dedicated it to the memory of Buz McPhail. Buz was at the filming for the movie theater scenes of the Music Video and encouraged Deb greatly that day. Buz, you are “Forever in our Hearts.”
In the meantime, Deb’s song with The Six Piece Suits, “It Don’t Get Better Than This,” was rising to the top of almost every Carolina Beach Music chart. It was #1 for multiple weeks in a row on several charts.
On May 10th, Deb celebrated her 43rd wedding anniversary – Happy Anniversary, Bob = “THINK I FOUND FOREVER!”
June started off in a whirlwind of activity! The Six Piece Suits traveled up from Pensacola, Florida for shows at The Hangout, DECKERZ, and 3001 NightLife. Deb had SO much fun performing their #1 collaborations, “Take Me By the Hand,” and “It Don’t Get Better Than This” live with the band for the first time. Randy and Susan Cooper hosted a wonderful “welcome” luncheon for the band, and Graham Golf Carts provided a grand entrance for the band at their DECKERZ show. It was an amazing weekend and fun was had by ALL!
On June 20th Deb and Marlisa were honored to sing at a crowning ceremony as Dreisa Sherrill, Ms. South Carolina Senior America 2022 crowned her successor, Dr. Catherine Pickren, Ms. SC Senior America 2023.
Carolina Beach Music Awards’ nominees were announced live on 94.9 The Surf at The Tiki Bar in North Myrtle Beach on August 5th. Deb was thrilled to receive nominations for “Female Vocalist of the Year” and “Music Video of the Year” for her song, “Think I Found Forever.”
The Six Piece Suits returned to the Myrtle Beach area in August for more shows and Deb was excited to be on stage again to perform their song collaborations. As Deb’s favorite saying goes…” Who has more FUN than we do!”
On September 23rd, Deb’s sweet mom celebrated her 90th birthday – Happy Birthday, Memaw! In honor of Memaw’s love for Gospel music, Deb announced she will record a Gospel CD to be released in the spring of 2024.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. October 7th, Deb and Marlisa participated in a fundraiser, “Bra’s Across Patio’s,” sponsored by Patio’s Tiki Bar & Grill. The event raised $5,509 for Bold and Beautiful Wigs for Cancer. A huge THANK YOU to Patio’s and to all who attended and helped make this such a successful event. Deb is a 12-year breast cancer survivor, so this cause is very near and dear to her heart. Mark your calendars for the 2024 “Bras Across Patio’s” to be held October 5th, 2024! Hope to see you there!
November brought another whirlwind month for Deb. Heading up the 1st ever “Women of Beach Music” show with Marlisa and Sylvia Ritchie, Deb helped recruit 10 of the Ladies of Beach Music for a two hour show to raise money for the CBMA Scholarship Foundation Benefit Pig Picking at Hoto’s Tiki Bar in North Myrtle Beach. The event raised over $5,000 and received a wonderful response from the audience.
Then…drum roll…Deb’s most memorable day of 2023 was November 12th, when she received the “Female Vocalist of the Year” award at the Carolina Beach Music Awards show held at the Alabama Theater. A special THANK YOU to the CBMA, to everyone who voted, and to those who have inspired and encouraged her on this musical journey. In Deb’s own words, “Songwriters aren’t supposed to be speechless, but not enough words exist to express how grateful I am for this honor. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!”
After coming up for air from all the Cammy weekend excitement, Deb hit the recording studio hard for her upcoming gospel CD, “Give Me Gospel.” Countless hours of work by Deb and Tim Sidden, the CD’s producer, have helped create a project Deb is very proud of and that she can hardly wait to share with the world. The CD will be dedicated to her mother, Ruth Tart, and is in memory of her dad, Gene Tart, and her aunt, Golda Page. Each song was hand picked by Deb and holds a special place in her heart.
December brings the excitement of Christmas, and Deb was honored to sing three songs from her Christmas CD, “Here Comes Christmas” at the Calabash Tree Lighting Ceremony and Parade in Calabash, NC. What a fantastic start to the Christmas season!
.
The next night, Deb and many of her friends participated in the North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade. Themed around the Christmas parody she wrote and recorded, “Here Comes Amazon,” they dressed up as Amazon elves, employees, and drivers! She even had her own Buddy the Elf and “live” Christmas tree! The crowd loved it and we’re planning even bigger and better things for next year’s parade.
On December 12th, Deb celebrated TWELVE years as a Breast Cancer Survivor! Thank you, Lord!
On December 22nd, Deb and Marlisa headed out to Prisma Health Children’s Hospital in Columbia, SC with an SUV loaded down with five HUGE bags of stuffed animal toys donated by PetSmart and Toys Across America. The smiles on the children’s faces as they received the toys was a highlight of Deb’s Christmas holidays. Thank you, Marlisa, for making this possible.
In addition to all these wonderful memories, Deb & Marlisa had the privilege of performing over 60 shows together at various venues in North and South Carolina.
So, YES, 2023 was a BUSY year for DebBrowningMusic.com.
Looking ahead in 2024…Deb has some exciting news coming this week on her new Gospel CD, “GIVE ME GOSPEL.” Stay tuned!
From Deb, “THANK YOU again for the support, love, and encouragement you have given me – you are true blessings!”
Philippians 4:13…Deb’s favorite Bible verse…
